In the role of Commodity Strategist, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the Bank’s understanding of global commodity markets, with a particular emphasis on the rural and regional economy. You’ll be responsible for producing high-impact research that informs both strategic decision-making and customer engagement across the organisation.
Each day, you’ll go above and beyond to:
- Lead market analysis and forecasting across soft and hard commodities, using advanced modelling techniques to identify trends and risks.
- Publish high-impact research, from regular market updates to deep-dive thematic reports, tailored for both internal and external audiences.
- Engage directly with clients and stakeholders, including NAB’s Regional & Agribusiness teams, commodity traders, and bankers servicing commodity-exposed sectors
- Collaborate across NAB’s Economics & Markets Research team, integrating your insights with FX, international, and domestic economic strategy.
We’re looking for the best and brightest to deliver the best for our customers. You’ll need:
- Degree in Agricultural/Economics/Economics/Finance is preferred
- Knowledge of agribusiness/ commodity markets
- Hands-on experience building quantitative forecasting models (.
- Excellent written and verbal communication—able to turn complex analysis into clear, actionable insights.
- Relationship builder with stakeholders across trading, lending, risk, and frontline banking
