More than jobs: Welcome to First Nations Opportunities

Published on January 22

Who we are

At First Nations Opportunities, we believe that meaningful representation cannot be limited to a narrow definition of work — or to roles that are only ever framed as “Indigenous identified”.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have roles across the entire Australian economy. Our skills, leadership, cultural knowledge, and professional expertise are found in every industry, every sector, and every region. That is why our platform exists — not just to share jobs, but to showcase the full breadth of opportunity available across Australia.

Opportunity is broader than “identified roles”

While Indigenous-identified and affirmative roles play an important part in building representation and culturally safe pathways, they are not the total sum of opportunity.

Our approach recognises that choice matters. We share opportunities that reflect:

  • a variety of jobs across every industry and sector
  • leadership, governance, executive and board positions
  • education, training, and professional development opportunities
  • cultural, social impact and personal development opportunities
  • business, enterprise, procurement, and innovation opportunities

By doing so, we aim to expand visibility and access.

Reflecting the real economy Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people participate in

The Australian economy is diverse and interconnected. So too are the ways Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people contribute to it.

Across the country, our people are:

  • engineers, lawyers, health professionals, tradespeople
  • creatives, business owners and entrepreneurs
  • executives, board members, and decision-makers
  • community and social leaders shaping policy, practice, and outcomes across Australia

By curating opportunities from across industries and regions — metropolitan, regional, and remote — we seek to reflect the reality of First Nations participation Australia-wide.

An ecosystem of opportunity, not a single pathway

First Nations Opportunities is building more than a jobs board. We are cultivating an ecosystem that reflects the breadth, depth, and diversity of opportunity available to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people across Australia.

Whether an opportunity is Indigenous-identified, open to all, sector-specific, or pathway-focused — if it contributes to meaningful participation, growth, and leadership, it belongs here.

We can't wait to continue our journey with you in 2026.
